In order to understand the employment situation, difficulties and policy expectations of overseas students returning home after graduation in Jinan, jinan investigation team of National Bureau of Statistics and Jinan Human resources and Social Security Bureau conducted a survey on 150 overseas students in four enterprises where overseas students gather.Research results show that the master is the backbone of the returnees development, higher education characteristics, with eyes open, capabilities, and the advantages of high gold content of record of formal schooling, but do not have a high level of foreign students know about home employment policy, employment information asymmetry at home and abroad with the domestic and foreign graduate time job time does not match the three major problems need to be concerned.Career development space is the most important factor for returnees, followed by employment location and salary and benefits.Overseas students want to go to their hometown cities, new first-tier cities (such as Chengdu, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Nanjing, etc.) and Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.When answering the question “where they want to work after graduation”, returnees from abroad chose their hometown city, new first-tier cities (such as Chengdu, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Nanjing, etc.), Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao, accounting for 49.7%, 27.5% and 17.5% respectively, while only 5.3% chose other cities.Influenced by factors such as salary level, social circle and career development opportunities, returnees are more looking forward to developing and working in first-tier and new first-tier cities with developed domestic economy, complete infrastructure and high degree of internationalization.82.6% of the returnees expect an annual salary of 100,000 to 300,000 yuan, much higher than the local income level.In 2021, the per capita disposable income of jinan urban residents was 57,449 yuan.According to the survey, 82.6% of overseas students expect an annual salary of 100,000-300,000 yuan, among which 44.3% expect an annual salary of 100,000-200,000 yuan and 38.3% expect an annual salary of 200,000-300,000 yuan, far higher than the local income level.Industries with high salary, good working environment and job stability are more popular among overseas students.Finance and Internet industries are popular among overseas students.According to the survey, 34.9% of overseas students choose accounting and finance industry with high salary level, 32.3% choose culture, education and sports industry with good working environment, 30.2% choose international organizations and government agencies with stable jobs, and 26.2% choose IT, communication and Internet industry.Overseas students choose manufacturing, self-employment and retail and business service industries, accounting for 22.2%, 22.2% and 16.1% respectively.Contributing to the construction of the motherland and family factors are the main factors for overseas students to choose to return to China.According to the survey, the main reasons why overseas students choose to return to China after graduation are contributing to the construction of the motherland, family factors, good domestic economic development situation, good domestic environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, attractive domestic talent policies and low living cost.Respectively accounted for 63.8%, 60.4%, 46.3%, 24.8%, 24.8% and 9.4%.International students have the advantages of broad vision, improved quality and ability and high educational background.Studying abroad can broaden my horizon and increase my experience.At the same time, high quality education resources enable international students to learn advanced knowledge and excellent experience abroad, improve their learning ability and language ability;Living in a foreign country requires them to exercise their life ability by themselves. Studying abroad can bring them more abundant choice of further education and a broader prospect of life development.The biggest advantages of overseas students who choose to return to China are: broad vision, 75.8% of them meet the requirements of employers, 61.7% of them have overseas experience, 54.4% of them have solid basic knowledge and broad learning content, and 53.0% of them have excellent language skills, especially English.Those who do not have a good understanding of the employment policy can find a job within six months after returning to China and have internship or work experience.After returning to China, 50.8% of overseas students found jobs within three months, 19.0% between three months and six months, 15.1% between six months and one year, and 15.1% over one year.Those who have 1-2 internships or work experience account for 61.7%, those who have 3-4 internships or work experience account for 17.5%, and those who have no internship or work experience account for only 15.4%.Wechat and the official website are the main ways for overseas students to find jobs.From the perspective of domestic employment situation of overseas students (multiple choices), choose wechat and official website of enterprise recruitment, job fairs held by domestic colleges and universities and overseas recruitment special sessions, BOSS Direct hire and other job hunting apps, information released by job hunting agencies and China Overseas Study Talent website to get job hunting information.55.7%, 44.3%, 44.3%, 39.6% and 18.8%, respectively.The degree of understanding of the return employment policy is not high.The epidemic situation and changes in international relations have obviously accelerated the return of overseas students, but they do not have a high understanding of the return employment policy.The research results show that;34.9% of the overseas students knew the employment policy back home, 8.1% knew it well and 26.8% knew it well.59.7% of overseas students believe that the asymmetry of employment information in China is the main obstacle to their return to China.The asymmetry of employment information affects their development plans in China to a certain extent.In addition, 56.4 percent of overseas students believe that the mismatch between overseas graduation time and domestic job hunting time causes difficulties in finding a job back home.There are also difficulties such as increasing competitiveness of domestic universities, inability to participate in internships in China and lack of relevant experience, lack of positions corresponding to majors and fierce competition, accounting for 49.0%, 48.3% and 39.6%, respectively.(Jinan Daily reporter: Liu Biao Correspondent: Li Yan)
